At the end of July four lads (mainly big lads) will attempt to emulate the “Grand Tour” by driving from Leeds to Rome in a car that is at least 18 years old - no easy task. Factor in the fact that the average weight of these guys is 17 stone and you have the basis of our
“80 stone to Rome challenge”
The Grand Tour began in the 17th century when young English gentlefolk travelled across Europe via Paris, Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome, often for 3 or 4 years, taking in and celebrating the culture as they went. Well, the Street Safari guys reckon the same thing can now be done in 5 days!
So we’re up for the challenge. OK, we might leave out some of the serious educational bits and pieces but I bet we can still celebrate the culture and with your help, raise lots of cash.
Follow us on our web site and find out how we’re doing as we make our way across the continent participating in the 5th annual Street Safari HOME2ROME that takes in most of the “Grand Tour”.

Thanks to Tetley/Carlsberg for donating a healthy supply of ale to be sold at £1 a pint to get the evening well under way and a night of fabulous live music from The Axions a good time was had by one and all. Free shots probably played a part as well, but as you can see from the photos we have kept the most embarrassing snaps to be auctioned at a later date should the need arise. Extra donations prior to the drive down to Rome will of course allow us to push the 'delete' button long before that need arises
